7 Ways to Cut Back on Alcohol
Let me start by saying that I am not an expert on addictions. Let me also say that I while I am doing #dryjanuary and LOVING it, I am not necessarily warding off all alcohol forever and ever. Maybe...but not making any promises as of yet.
With that, I DO feel this is an important topic to discuss. I hear it all the time as a nutrition and fitness coach that mommas are coming home from work and opening that wine to 'wine down'. Hey...I see you momma because I am you. I GET IT! We manage A LOT.
One thing I have had a 'Coming to Jesus' moment with though is that the wine, whiskey, beer, etc... is exacerbating the stress later. For a MOMENT it takes the stress down, but AFTER it is working in our bodies to make us even MORE stressed, snippy, and anxious.
Recently, if I even had ONE glass of wine or ONE martini🍸 my heart would start to RACE when I went to bed. To the point where I was getting nervous. I would ALWAYS wake up at 2:00 am sweating. This was just after 1 drink. ONE. If I had 2...forget it!
I tell you this (private) info as a health coach myself, to show you the signs that your body is YELLING for a rest from it.
I share this with his permission; my dad is an alcoholic and he went to rehab for a month in September 2022. He has been sober since and I'm so mother LOVING proud of him! A lifetime of addiction broken down with ONE really hard choice to do something about it. His eyes are wider (literally). He can move around better. His sleep is better. He's lost 20 pounds. He's off multiple meds. He's just...my dad again 🥰 He will have to work EVERY SINGLE day to say 'no' to his addiction. #ittakeswork Addiction is scary and maybe you're not 'addicted' to alcohol, but it does have a stronger hold on you than you'd like...
I just encourage you today to take some of these tips and try them out. If you do have an addiction, there is help. You can call someone like @recoverycentersofamerica at 1-844-280-3984.
